Get Writing
TARGET GROUP
People of any age, level of education and experience
OBJECTIVE
To experiment with a range of creative-writing formats, but focussing on autobiography and writing a diary or journal.
The emphasis is on:
- getting started
- producing volume quickly
- triggering the imagination
- enjoying working with words
- trying different styles of writing
CONTENT
The workshop is based on several short writing tasks, followed by sharing the results – always on a voluntary basis. Participants work partly in pairs, partly on their own. Feedback is followed by a discussion amongst the group.
The writing-exercises include:
- a diary-entry
- a poem
- a short story
- a slice of autobiography
SKILLS
At the end of the workshop, participants will have learned how to:
- Use techniques to get the writing flowing
- Stimulate the imagination
- Recognise different kinds of writing
- Search for their own strengths
- Document their life in words

One Day (10.15 – 17.30, with a one-hour lunch-break.
